Common Questions
When should someone seek counseling?
There really isn't a bad time to seek counseling! Some situations that often bring people into therapy may include experiencing symptoms of depression or anxiety, going through a transition, a sudden and unexpected change, dealing with a difficult relationship, seeking self-understanding or increasing self-awareness, wanting healing from trauma or past relationships. If you're considering counseling, but are still unsure, we would love to talk with you! Feel free to call our office for more information.
What can I expect from counseling?
Many people have an idea of what counseling looks like based off of what they've seen in movies or on t.v. The counseling process is exactly that- a process. It usually happens over a period of time, which usually is dependent on your goals for therapy. Every counselor does things a little differently and the experience you have will rely heavily on the personality and experience of the counselor you are seeing. You may feel feelings of discomfort in session and in between sessions as the material discussed is often difficult. However, many people report feeling relief, calm, and have a greater understanding of themselves and the people around them as a result of counseling.
